The alleged fixer, with her purported cohort, were arrested in an entrapment operation at the Manila City Hall after a concerned citizen lodged a complaint before the Civil Registry Office led by officer-in-charge Atty. Cris Tenorio.

MPD SMaRT officers made the arrests after the two suspects received marked money from the complainant.

Initial investigation by the MPD SMaRT showed that the alleged fixer demanded P15,000 in order to process the birth certificate of the complainant’s sibling.

“However, the complainant refused to (pay) the high price demand of suspect-1 until they both agreed to the amount of P1,300,” the report by MPD SMaRT said.

Police Major Rosalino Ibay Jr. of MPD SMaRT said charges for robbery extortion are now being prepared against the suspects.

NOTE: Citizens only have to pay P50 to have their birth certificate processed at the Manila Civil Registry Office (MCRO).
