Manila to distribute face masks amid coronavirus scare

The Manila City government will make an initial distribution of 100,000 face masks to the public, Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced on Thursday, January 23.

This is in line with the government's precautionary measures to provide protection for Manilenos amid the coronavirus scare worldwide.

"Ito po ang ating initial na distribution ng mga facemasks. Tuloy-tuloy po ang ating pagdistribute nito sa mga susunod na linggo," Domagoso said.

Domagoso also said that as per the monitoring of the Manila Health Department, no case of coronavirus has reached the nation's capital.

Nevertheless, the Mayor urged the public to remain alert and take preventive measures against the virus.

Symptoms of the coronavirus include cough and cold, headache, fever, and sore throat.

The coronavirus has been reportedly spreading across Southeast Asia. The Department of Health said no confirmed case of coronavirus has been reported in the country.
