Isko approves P7.5M budget for insurance coverage for barangay officials

Manila City Mayor Francisco 'Isko Moreno' Domagoso approved a budget of P7.5 million intended for accident insurance of all barangay officials.

Domagoso signed the Letter of Confirmation on Monday, June 14, during the ceremonial signing with Manila City Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, Department of Interior and Local Government-Manila City Director Atty. Rolynne Javier, CESO V, and officials from the Government Service Insurance System.

Under the budget, about 45,700 barangay officials will get insurance coverage, including the following:

— Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson

— Barangay Secretary

— Barangay Treasurer

— Members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa

— Members of the Barangay Tanod Brigade

"Sinosoga natin sila sa frontlines kaya kailangan ito. Matagal na naming pangarap ito para sa mga barangay officials," Domagoso said.

Under the GSIS proposal, each barangay official is entitled to accidental death compensation worth P150,000, medical reimbursement of P15,000, and burial assistance worth P10,000.

The said insurance provision is mandated under Resolution No. 1, series of 2021, of the Manila Peace and Order Council (MPOC) and in line with the implementation of the 2020 to 2022 Manila Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Plan.
